Although some food items are good others not so much. A more cost effective choice is the cafe. There was a place for soups but none were available and deserts were a bit scarce and dated. The same lady was nicer when she served us our drinks. A young employee came over and straightened it out for her. The lady at the buffet was sort of rude when we checked in because the cash register hadn't been up dated from the lunch time to the dinner time. Physically they have been updated but the food and service still lack professionalism. The only areas that could use some updating are the dining areas. The aisles are wider than the old casino. The ventilation in the smoking area seemed to be better than the old casino. The large separate no smoking area is fantastic. The desk receptionists were very friendly. Upon arrival we were greeting and quickly went through the process of checking in. We telephoned in our reservations and the receptionists we friendly and business like.
We were traveling to Minnesota for the weekend and Black River Falls is halfway between our origin and destination so we thought it would be fun going and returning to stay overnight at the Black River Falls Hotel.
